HOW IT ALL BEGAN…

Dolls have always been a passion of mine, ever since i was very young seeing my cousins and friends play, create stories, dress and redress their dolls… it was love at first sight.

Studying fashion in London and being in the industry for nearly two decades my doll collection grew and changed over the years, seeing new dolls come onto the market and wonderful creations being brought into the world by creatives, it was natural that at some point i would bite the bullet and create my very own doll. It all seems like a blur now, staring now at a finished fashion doll on my desk knowing this was all streamed from my brain feels amazing.

Rewind more than 2 years back, i started sketching, drawing faces, brainstorming and thinking of who she could be and what she would look like, dreaming and wondering how i could get my creation to materialise. I knew nothing of this side of the industry, so I began my research and also thought practically about how I would create a 3D prototype. ALL 3D programmes were completely daunting for me, I tried and tried, experimented and failed, over and over for many months, I ended up with a physical resin prototype but I was still not there, working and reworking every joint and endless days and nights of sanding to a glass like finish, she was finally coming to life. Once i had her in hand i soon realised how much i had to learn, even being a collector and handling so many different dolls, its so different to making your own doll!

The very first prototype

5 prototypes later, a very dusty home, sore hands, spray sealant everywhere along with a very tired brain… she was ready to be casted, but i wanted to make sure that she was 100% ready. After sourcing London based casters, i managed to get lots of parts casted in some ‘flesh tones’ these were my very first proto girls, but sadly the company couldn’t make production for me so these girls allowed me to play, paint, dress and really meet this fashion model i had created while another company was found.

Reworking the face mould by hand

After many discussions, sourcing and finalising my ultimate prototype was ready to be sent overseas, the hardest part handing her over and patiently waiting for notification of her arrival! Now… the waiting, waiting, waiting… 4 months go by and my girls are landing in London, a small batch, but enough to have 3 skin tones and begin creating lots of different girls. I still cant believe that it all happened over 2 years and now the first two Chaos girls are ready to meet their new owners.

Managing freelance work, day to day stuff and starting a brand is tough work! But now with new girls coming out faster and faster hopefully I can spread the chaos around the world!

Theres so much to come and so many things i want to create! so stay tuned and enjoy! feel free to contact us anytime! :)
